- First, assuming you've checked your e-mail with your e-mail program (Internet Mail, Outlook Express), you can go to http://www.lynchburg.net/email and logon to see if you actually -do- have mail waiting for you.
- If you do, is any of it pretty big, ranging from 12000 bytes or more? It may have a large attachment that is causing it to take a long time to download into your e-mail program.
- Consider downloading the large attachment to your computer by right-clicking on it with your right mouse button and clicking on "Save Target As..." to the folder you want to save it to.
- If none of this is helping, are you sure that the person sending you mail is using the right address for you? You can verify that you're receiving your e-mail by sending yourself a test message to your own e-mail address and then retrieving it.
- For example, if your e-mail address is johndoe@lynchburg.net, go to http://www.lynchburg.net/email and send yourself a message with the word 'test' in both the subject line and the body of the message. Then, check your mail a minute later. If you got the message, your mail is fine, and the other person is sending your mail to the wrong address.
- If you didn't receive your e-mail, then did you put any capital letters or spaces in your e-mail address (a no-no)?
- If worse comes to worse, you can call us at 237-2657 between 9-6 and we'll be happy to help you.
