My e-mail doesn't seem to be making it to my friends at AOL.
AOL isn't all it's advertised to be.

  1. First, please be aware that America Online has a formal policy of prioritizing e-mail. Mail sent from one AOL member to another is prioritized #1, mail sent from AOL to a non-AOL address is #2 in priority, and mail sent from outside AOL into AOL is prioritized last.
  2. Big deal, right? Not quite. Besides being responsible for the regular e-mail sent within AOL, AOL's mail servers are also responsible for the largest volume of junk mail sent from within one network in the world.
  3. Quote from http://www.aolsucks.org/service/email.html: "The unreliability of AOL's mail system is legendary. Incoming mail has been delayed for as long as 96 hours at a time, or just simply silently deleted. Outgoing mail -- when it is accepted at all, as shown above -- is often delayed as well. The mail system has gone down nearly every evening recently for emergency maintenance, and the "AOL Insider" service on AOL has suggested avoiding using email entirely because it is so slow."
  4. This means that your AOL friends may or may not receive your e-mail in a timely fashion, and that you may have to send it again a few days later if they didn't receive it.
  5. Also, be aware that AOL e-mail addresses are case-sensitive. That means that if your friend's e-mail address is 3Stooges@aol.com, you cannot send it to 3stooges@aol.com or else it will bounce back to you.
  6. Last, make sure that you sent it. To do so, open up your e-mail program and make sure there are no messages in its Outbox. Otherwise, the mail has been there the entire time.
