- Click on Start > Programs > Internet Explorer > Outlook Express.
- In the new window, click on Tools > Accounts.
- In the new window, click on the Mail tab.
- Under the Mail tab, you'll see three headers: Account, Type, and Connection.
- Under Account, double-click on your mail account for Lynchburg.Net. If there isn't one there, go to Setting Up Your New E-Mail Account.
- In the new window, you should put your real name in where it says Name: and your e-mail address in where it says E-mail address: .
- Next, click on the Servers tab at the top.
- It should say mail.lynchburg.net (all lowercase) next to Outgoing mail (SMTP): and Incoming mail (POP3): .
- It should also say My incoming mail server is a POP3 server.
- Lower down, there should be a bullet next to Log on using, and your username (i.e., johndoe, -not- johndoe@lynchburg.net) and password should both be entered.
- Tip: Neither your username nor your password can have any UPPERCASE letters in it - they all need to be lowercase.
- Next, click on the Connection tab above.
- Assuming you use a modem to connect, there should be a bullet next to Connect using my phone line.
- Underneath that in Modem, Use the following Dial-Up Networking connection:, that drop-down menu should have your lynchburg.net connection in there. If it isn't, please select it from the drop-down menu.
- Now, you're done. Click Apply in the lower right hand corner, then OK.
- At the next window, click Close. You're set to Send and Receive your e-mail.
