- First, after ensuring you're connected to the Internet, make sure you are typing in the address as it is supposed to be. *DO NOT* assume that every web site has a WWW. in front of it. It doesn't, and here's an example: http://virtual.lynchburg.net
- Next, make sure you *can* load a web site, such as www.yahoo.com or www.netscape.com. If you can't load these, you may not be connected to the Internet or be having dial-up connection problems between your computer and ours.
- Double-click on My Computer, then on Dial-Up Networking. Right-click with your right mouse button on your Lynchburg.Net icon, and select Properties.
- In the new window, click on Server Types and then on the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Make sure that the numbers next to Primary DNS are 208.197.56.3 and Secondary DNS are 208.197.56.9 . If they aren't, place your mouse within the number fields and overwrite them with these numbers.
- Last, make sure you are connected to the Internet. To do this, double-click on My Computer, then on Dial-Up Networking. Right-click with your right mouse button on your Lynchburg.Net icon, and select "Create Shortcut." Click Yes to the error message, and then proceed to establish your dial-up connection through the Shortcut to Lynchburg.Net on your desktop.
- If you're still having problems with some web sites after this, please call us at 237-2657 for more assistance.
