Internet Explorer v5.0 Web Filter Configuration
This is for our Family Access Plan users who choose to take advantage of our Web Filtering option, although Web Filtering can also be ordered seperately with any other plan.

  1. Load Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools, then select Internet Options.
  3. Click on the tab labeled Connection.
  4. You should see an item under Dial-up Settings called Lynchburg.net. If you do not, click here.
  5. Click once on Lynchburg.net so that it is highlighted. Then click on the button labeled Settings.
  6. This will produce a window called Lynchburg.net Settings. Approximately in the middle of this window, click on the Use a Proxy Server option so that you place a check in it.
  7. In the field labeled Address, input the proxy servername, proxy.Lynchburg.net and click OK.
  8. Now, when you try to get on the Web, you will first be presented with a username and password prompt for I-Gear, our proxy software.
  9. Enter your username and password for the proxy (usually the same as your dial-up username and password) and you will then suft the web as usual.
  10. Our Web Filtering Service is now active for your account.
