| Netscape Web Filter Configuration |
This is for our Family Access Plan users who choose to take advantage
of our Web Filtering option, although Web Filtering can also be ordered
seperately with any other plan.
- Load Netscape.
- Click on Edit, then select Preferences.
- You will see an item on the left labeled Advanced. Double-click on this so that it is expanded, showing the options Cache, Proxies, and SmartUpdate underneath.
- Click on Proxies. Change the option button so that instead of being on Direct Connection to the Internet, it says Manual Proxy Configuration. Click on View.
- In the field labeled HTTP, type in the servername proxy.Lynchburg.net under Address of Proxy Server to Use. Under Port, type 80.
- Click OK to bring you back to the Preferences screen. Click OK here as well to go back to Netscape.
- Now, when you try to get on the Web, you will first be presented with a username and password prompt for I-Gear, our proxy software.
- Enter your username and password for the proxy (usually the same as your dial-up username and password) and you will then suft the web as usual.
- Our Web Filtering Service is now active for your account.
