| Service Coordination | A variety of resources, agencies, and services are available to parents and children. All families receive assistance in finding and using the resources they need. |
| Pre - Screening | Children referred to the program may be screened using a developmental screening instrument to determine if a more comprehensive assessment is needed. |
| Team Assesments | Team assesment is the process through which early intervention disciplines come together with the child and his/her family to examine all areas of the child's development to identify strengths and needs. |
| Home - Based Instruction | Professionals trained in the areas of child development and intervention strategies provide individualized in-home instruction to infants/toddlers and their families. |
| Speech - Language / Feeding Therapy | Speech-language evaluation and therapy services are provided to the children by a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Parents and children work together with the speech pathologist to develop ways to improve communication skills and oral muscle coordination. |
| Physical Therapy | Physical therapy at Project Daniel consists of evaluation of motor skills and treatment of infants / toddlers with delays in gross motor skills and / or problems with the quality of their motor performance. |
| Occupational Therapy | An Occupational Therapist participates in the team assessment evaluating the child's fine motor skills. Treatment is provided to those children identified with delays impacting the functional use of their arms and hands. |
| Transportation | Assistance in obtaining transportation to therapies and assessments is available to families as needed. |
| Hospital - Based Services | To facilitate the integration of hospital-based and community-based services, an interventionist from Project Daniel serves as a member of the Intensive Care Nursery team (ICN) at Virginia Baptist Hospital. |
| Parent Resource Group | The Parent Resource Group offers a warm environment for families to share, grow, and learn together. The group has a variety of activities, including support sessions, informations meetings, seasonal parties, and field trips. |
| Special Activities | Families, children, and staff enjoy special outings and parties throughout the year. Christmas is extra special with an alumni party. These activities provide opportunity for parents to meet other parents and for social interaction of the children. |
| Counseling | Counseling is available for parents who want additional support in dealing with the emotional impact of learning their child has special needs and to facilitate coping strategies for all family members with any issues related to their child. |
