ABOUT US

Project Daniel Early Intervention Program provides services to infants, birth thru 2 years of age, who are developmentally delayed or at risk for developmental delay due to a specific diagnosis. Project Daniels's primary mission is to minimize the impact of developmental delay on children and families thru education, advocacy, training and support; to maximize growth and development; to promote family empowerment, and support parents in becoming effective teachers and advocates for their children.

HOW DO I REFER A CHILD TO THE PROGRAM?

Simply call (434)455-2295 or (434)455-2296. An appointment will be made to meet with the parents and child to discuss their concerns. It is always best to trust your gut instinct, even if no one else sees the things you see - let Project Daniel tell you that you don't need them instead of not calling them and worrying that you might. If you are a professional and wish to refer a child, you must have the parents permission.

WHY IS EARLY INTERVENTION IMPORTANT?

The first few years of your baby's life are very important. It's the time when he or she is beginning to recognize people, walk, talk and many other things. Some babies may have trouble developing certain skills. Early intervention can help parents find answers to their questions and address any concerns about their baby's learning and growing.

Early intervention can:

1.) Evaluate your baby's growing and learning,
2.) Help your baby learn new skills,
3.) Teach you special ways to help your baby learn new skills.

AREAS OF CONCERN

Does your baby feel stiff (hard to diaper)?
Does your baby stand and/or walk on his/her toes a lot?
Does your baby use one hand a lot more than the other?
Has your baby stopped doing things he could do well before?

If you have any questions about your baby's development, please discuss them with your physician.
