WHAT'S NEW

The Monelison Volunteer Rescue Squad was established August 15, 1964 by a group of men who wanted to make a difference in this community. Some of these men actually took out loans and mortgaged their homes in order to establish the Squad. Their commitment and dedication still lives today through men and women just like you. Where would we be if when we called for help, no one came? Special thanks to those people for establishing a Squad that still proudly serves the citizens of Monroe, Elon, and Madison Heights, and to those who serve this community today.

The opportunity was given to the community to  create a name for the newly established squad.  All names submitted were considered and a winner was chosen.  A local Madison Heights lady won the contest with Monelison.  The winner used her creativity by combining the three areas of coverage: which include Monroe, Elon, and Madison Heights. Breaking them down and then joining  them together, she came up with Mon-el-ison".
