The Lynchburg Junior's were organized on March 23, 1947. The club's first
important service was to assist the woman's club with the Grove's Playground in Lynchburg.
In 1953 the Lynchburg Speech and Hearing Center was the Club's first major project.
Since then the club has gone on to do many major projects with the most popular being
the annual Sterling Silver Achievement Award established in September 1984. This
program donates a particular sum of money to Lynchburg City School
libraries in recognition of their volunteers.
Lynchburg Junior Woman's Club is made up of women between the ages of 18-40.
General meetinngs are held on a monthly basis to plan projects, listen to guest speakers,
discuss club business and socialize.
Community Outreach
Club members are divided into departments. Those departments consist of
Home Life, Education, and Fine Arts. Each department is responsible for doing
various community projects. For example, Fine Arts provides wreaths to Patrick
Henry Boys/Girls Home; Education is sponsored a young woman to go back to school
and finish her high school education; Home Life sponsors children from the Angel
Tree at Christmas.
Most projects done by the Club are special to our hearts. The Club tries
to fulfil each member's personal wishes to serve our community.
