Purpose:
This lesson is designed to help teachers search the World Wide Web for resources related to their subject area and topics that they are teaching. In this lesson we will use various search engines to search the Web. You can start a search by clicking on the search button. That will take you to whatever search service is set on this computer as the search page. Many times various search engines will be bookmarked or listed in the favorites folder. Check there to see if any are listed. Below I have created some links to popular search engine sites. Each search engine conducts its search according to a different set of guidelines. Try them on similar searches and compare the results.
In addition to the activities listed in this lesson you may visit some sites on the web that teach the basics of Web "surfing". Also, on each search site there is a link to some tips on how to best use that site. Below are some links to some Web tutorials.
If you have completed the above lesson either go on to one of the other lessons or venture out on your own to explore the Web.
