Waid Recreation Area

Directions to trailhead:

It'll take about 1 to 1.5 hrs to get from Lynchburg to Waid Recreation Area.

From Lynchburg, take U.S. 460 Bypass west (or 221 South) to 122 west in Bedford. Follow 122 to Rocky Mount. Turn west on SR 40 WEST toward Ferrum. As you go out of town on Rt 40 about 2 miles past the CVS and Dairy Queen there is a light at Six Mile Post Road (rt 640). The Forty west Minute Market is on your right. Turn right at the light there onto Six Mile Post Road (rt 640) (There is a sign "Waid Recreation Area" with a right-turn arrow). Go 2 miles until you see the entrance for Waid on your left. Take the left, drive about a mile, and look for a place to park. The trail starts above the baseball field.
