CVMA
Abbreviated minutes from February 21, 2006 meeting.
NEW TRAIL DEVELOPEMENT
Candler's Mtn. News - Permission recently obtained from Liberty University for CVMA MEMBERS to legally ride and maintain existing trails and build new trails. This permission stipulates that only CVMA members can be on the property or if you are not a member you must be accompanied by a current member on the roster. We will turn in a roster to them on March 1, 2006 so if you want to be included you must become a member ASAP (www.centralvamb.com). Parking at the Wingate Hotel is AT YOUR OWN RISK. We have permission to park at the last parking lot of the new student dorms (the one nearest the Wingate). Also, when going to ride we must notify the Liberty University police Dept. by calling a number I will send out via the list serve as soon as we have the roster completed. Curtis Brown will be heading up trail maintenance and building at Candler's Mtn. and will be scheduling some things in the near future.
We also discussed the completion of the trails at Falling Creek Park (Bedford County) Matt Lepcio has scheduled the first work day for Saturday March 4th from 8 a.m.-12 p.m., food and refreshments will be provided.
Tentative weekly ride schedule:
We have volunteers to lead Tuesday night rides at Peaksview Park (when trail conditions permit) 5:30 ride-level 1 and 2 ride. 7:30 ride-level 3 and 4.
We need more, if interested please contact Ben Warren. Vaughn suggested the 5th Tuesday (when occurs) we should plan on doing trail maintenance.
There is an interest in a weekly night ride Thursday's at Candler's
Mtn. This will be a level 3/4 ride. Details will be sent out on the list serve.
The ladies are planning to ride on Thursday nights at Peaksview Park please contact Ben for details or to volunteer to help with these rides.
Ride categories (when posting a ride please use level 1, 2, 3 or 4 to describe)
Level 1 -Beginner ride, low intensity conversational pace. Stop to regroup often and not very technically challenging. Children and Spouses encouraged to participate.
Level 2 - Slightly faster than beginner, slightly more intense pace stopping to regroup often. A little more technically challenging due to faster pace.
Level 3 -Intermediate level ride with higher sustained intensity, regroup less often but no one gets dropped from the group. Technically more demanding.
Level 4 -Rider will need intermediate to advanced level of fitness and technical skill to "hang on" to the group. Epic rides of 20+ miles.
WEBSITE/MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
The new web site is now up but not entirely complete yet. You can log on and pay your membership dues there and get some basic info. As well as subscribe to the list serve. Work on the site is on-going so your patience is much appreciated!
