Yes. In Virginia the Organ donor designation on your driver's license is now honored like any other advance directive.  Your family's permission is NOT required, if you have designated that you want to be an organ donor on your drivers license or in any other advanced directive.  Please talk over your wishes regarding organ donation with your family because you would not want your organs taken against your grieving family's wishes.
