Q.    What is Citizens Emergency Crew, Inc?

A.    Citizens Emergency crew or "The Crew" as it is most often called is a completely non-profit           (501C3  corporation) volunteer rescue squad based in the community Gladys, Va.

 

Q.     What  does Citizens Emergency Crew provide for it service area?

A.     1)   An all Volunteer force of Emergency Medical Technians.

        2)    A fleet of well maintained and equipped emergency response vehicles.

        3)    Emergency medical and rescue services and rapid emergency transport to local hospital                  trauma centers

       4)    Training for members of the community and schools.

       5)    Mutual aid to neighboring rescue squads and communities.

       6)    Trained VAVRS Instructor who teach rescue skills to other squads throughout the state.

       

Q.    What services does The Crew not provide?

A.    We are stictly an emergency medical responce unit.  We do not provide medical taxi or        non-emergency ambulance service.  We do not dispense prescriptions or medical advice.

 

Q.    How is Citizens Emergency Crew, Inc funded?

A.    Funding in from five major sources, Donations, Grants, United Way, fund raisers and the     Virginia Two for Life program. The Crew operates on an annual budget of approximately           $70,000.

 

Q.    How is that funding Spent?

A.    All funds are spent on operating expenses (fuel, ulitlies, supplies, repairs and                insurances...ect),   capital expenditures ( new units, equipment, crewhall improvements, ...ect) and training.  No crew member is compensated for their work!

 

Q.    How is The Crew Governed?

A.    The Crew is self governed.  We have a President who is responisble for the adminstrative     and business issues.  The Captain is responible for the day to day runnings of the crew.  A          board of directors consisting of Crew members and people from the community provide          guidance. Other major adminstrative officers include, Vice President, Treasuer, Secretary,          and Public Relation Officer.

 

Q.    How do I become a member of Citizens Emeregency Crew, Inc?

A.   Becoming a member is a very simple process.   You must obtain an Application for     membership complete it and return it to a memeber of The Crew.  Your application will be reviewed and investigated by the membership committe and then brought before the crew for approval.   Once approval you will become a probationary member and can start taking an active part immediately.  To gain full membership and voting rights you must complete you EMT, EVOC, CPR, and Light and Basic Rescue training.
