SO, YOU ARE PLANNING TO BE MARRIED --- THAT'S WONDERFUL
Do's and don'ts for a SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE

You may or may not know that marriage is God’s institution for the welfare of the human race.
God saw that it was not good for the man to be alone, so he made a help suitable for him and he established the rite of marriage (Genesis 2:23-24). And Adam said, "This is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman because she was taken out of man".
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh (Ephesians 5:22-29). Husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies; wives are to be submissive to their husbands. They are to forsake all others for each other (Ephesians 5:31).
If your marriage is to succeed, consider the following list of "DOs" and "DON’Ts".
"DOs"
- Put Christ first in each of your lives (Matthew 7:24-27).
- Build your lives on Christ as the rock.
- Be honest with each other in everything. Be transparent to each other always.
- Have family altar or devotions in your home – someplace where you pray, study his word, and fellowship around his word.
- Do have church in your home (Matthew 18:20). Let Christ rule you in every decision and make decisions together.
"DON’Ts"
- Don’t allow any one, no matter who they are, to come between you.
- Don’t make bad choices in selecting friends.
- Don’t allow your family to lead you against each other. Love them, pray for them, but let them know you have Christ to lead and direct you through the Holy Spirit.
- When children are born, don’t allow them to divide you or cause your love for each other to diminish.
- Don’t lose your first love. Always keep romance in all you do.
- Don’t ever put each other away (Malachi 2:14). You make a covenant with each other at the marriage altar and to put each other away would break your vows. Our Heavenly Father has accepted your covenant and has been a witness between you. Even though it is a man’s covenant, God accepts it. Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, "When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it for he hath no pleasure in fools. Pay that which thou hast vowed". Verse 5 says, "Better is it that thou shouldest not vow than that thou shouldest vow and not pay". What therefore God hath joined together let no man put asunder. Stay together, work through your problems and our Heavenly Father will bless you.
