Pruning Mr. Elder's Garden 2000

The Blue Ridge Rose Society held the first event of 2000 with a weekend of pruning. Many helpful people showed up on a Saturday in March to get Mr. Elder's Garden in shape for a promising year of beautiful blooms. Many thanks to Tilman Mahone and Catherine Powers for their expert guidance.

Catherine said that many of the bushes hadn't been pruned this drastically in years. Where bushes used to grow into each other, you can now see open space. The increased airflow will help prevent rose diseases taking hold. This is a garden that the Society can really be proud.
