The Bethlehem Preschool was established in 1984 as an outreach ministry under Christian Education. It has its own eight member board, but is also responsible to the Administrative Board of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
The Preschool serves two age groups with a three day per week program for four year olds and a two day per week program for three year old children. The Preschool is in session from September through May, and serves children in the local community.
This outreach ministry of the Church helps children develop spiritually, physically, socially, mentally and emotionally while gaining readiness for public school. It encourages the development of self-discipline, a good self image, a curiosity for the world around them and an appreciation for the value of human life as shown by God’s love.
To reach the many goals for the child’s development, the Preschool uses a variety of learning activity centers, has circle time for music, literature and language and plays games for physical exercise. Subject matter includes literature, alphabet, numbers, colors, health, science and nature. Each child receives individual attention and is directed toward reaching his/her fullest potential.
The Preschool is staffed by a director and an assistant. Parents are encouraged to be involved and many volunteer hours are given by parents of the preschoolers. Bethlehem’s Preschool seeks to find financial assistance for parents who need help with tuition. Funds contributed for Preschool scholarship are always appreciated.
M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Preschoolers) is an international organization established to provide a caring atmosphere for today’s mothers of young children.
