Men

The United Methodist Men meet on the fourth Sunday each month at 6:00 pm for dinner and an informational program.  Members prepare the meals, with a nominal fee charged to cover the costs.  Programs are usually mission or community-related.

For the early birds in the group, there is a breakfast fellowship that meets on the second Tuesday morning at Campers’ Paradise.  No business, officers or speakers here.  Just fellowship, prayer and food!

In May 1999, the men began a Peanut Ministry to raise money for local mission projects.  Currently, there are several teams of five to seven men who cook, season, bottle and label peanuts, selling them throughout the community to raise money for missions.  Cases of these notoriously delicious peanuts have been shipped throughout the states as well as overseas.

In 2005, the church helped finance the building of a Project House specifically to cook and store their peanut supplies.  Once or twice a month, more frequently during the holidays, the aroma of freshly cooked peanuts fills the air around the church, signifying the men are busy at their favorite mission fundraiser.

In the past seven years, the men have donated over $70,000 to local mission projects.  Yes, it can be said they are “nuts” about supporting missions!
